Gentians in a late season
The snow stayed on the north slopes well into July this year, and the trumpet gentians were still open in the second week of September. Above the second lake the turf was blue in patches no larger than a table.

The old mule track above the dam, turning left at the cairn. The best ground is the shallow bowl below the ridge.
